Abstract: On the occasion of celebrating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Shanghai Preventive Medicine Association, we deeply cherish the memory of professor Gu Xue-ji, first president of Shanghai Preventive Medicine Association.As his graduate students, we deeply miss the life of professor Gu Xue-ji.He is modest, studious, approachable, honest, serious, sincere, good as his word, kind to others and with clear love and hate.In teaching and educating, he was tireless and strict for requirements; in academic research, he adhered to scientific attitude, based on China′s national conditions, does not follow the fashion, insisted on the scientific spirit of seeking truth from facts and the idea "health needs prevention first", which has been always influencing the younger generation.Having made outstanding contributions to the health of the professional population in China and even around the world, he is a model of preventive medicine, public health and even medical community.
