Abstract:
ObjectiveTo explore the influence factors of rabies incubation period, and provide scientific evidence for prevention and control of rabies and prolongation of incubation period.
MethodsEpidemiological data on human rabies cases of Jining City occurring during 2006-2015 were collected. Univariate analysis and Cox proportional hazard regression analysis were used targeting at the influence factors for incubation period of rabies cases.
ResultsThe study investigated a total of 87 cases, with average rabies incubation period being 65 days (ranging from 3 to 7 345 days). Single variable analysis showed that exposure grading, exposed sites, postexposure immune history and hurt animal species were related to the rabies incubation period with statistical significance(P < 0.05). Cox proportional hazard regression showed that postexposure immune history, exposure grading and exposed sites were the real factors influencing latent period. The onset risk of vaccinated presons was 17.48 times that of unvaccinated persons. The onset risk of exposure to head and face was 2.13 times that of lower limb exposure.
ConclusionThe determinants affecting incubation period of rabies prove to be postexposure vaccination, exposure grading and exposed sites.
