Surveillance analysis on adverse events following immunization in Jinhua in 2015-2016

  • ObjectiveTo analyze the surveillance data on adverse event following immunization (AEFI) in Jihua, in 2015-2016.
MethodsThe AEFI data in 2015 and 2016 were collected through EPI Information Management System of China, and analyzed by descriptive epidemiological method.
ResultsA total of 1993 AEFI cases during 2015-2016 were reported. The estimated incidence rate was 34.45 per 100, 000 doses, which covered all counties and townships in Jinhua. All surveillance indicators met the requirements in terms of National Surveillance Plan. The ratio of male and female cases was 1.30:1. And 42.50% cases were ≤1 years old and more cases were reported between May and August. In case classification, 91.57% of AEFI were as common and minor reaction cases, and 6.42% were abnormal reaction cases. The highest incidence rate of AEFI cases was caused by DTaP-IPV-Hib vaccine (166 cases, 280.90 per 100, 000 doses), and the lowest rate by oral polio vaccine (31 cases, 4.24 per 100, 000 doses). Allergic rash cases accounted for most of the abnormal reaction cases based on clinical diagnosis. 97.49% of AEFI cases were cured.
ConclusionThe AEFI surveillance is highly sensitive in Jinhua in 2015 and 2016. Nevertheless, training on AEFI surveillance and response should be further strengthened, so as to further improve management level of AEFI surveillance.
