Epidemiological characteristics of measles in Lucheng District of Wenzhou City in 2011-2017

  • ObjectiveTo study the epidemiological features of measles in Lucheng District of Wenzhou City from 2011 to 2017, and provide evidence for developing strategy and measure to quickly control the disease.
    MethodsThe data on measles cases were collected from 2011 to 2017, and the relevant indicators analyzed by descriptive study.
    ResultsFrom 2011 to 2017, 117 measles cases were reported in Lucheng District of Wenzhou City, the average annual incidence being 1.50 per 100 000 population.The vast majority of cases concentrated between February and June, with a peak in March-May.Infants < 8 months old and adults ≥15 years old accounted for 37.61% and 29.06% of all cases, respectively.Scattered children accounted for 68.38%.
    ConclusionSubstantial progress toward measles elimination is made in Lucheng District of Wenzhou City. It is necessary to further increase measles containing vaccine coverage and timely vaccination rate for children.
