Current management situation of loaners and implants in Shanghai medical institutions

ObjectiveTo investigate the current management situation of loaners and implants in Shanghai medical institutions, providing basis to improve the management of loaners and implants, as well as long-term monitoring mechanism of their disinfection and isolation effect in medical institutions.

MethodsThose medical institutions using loaners and implants in Shanghai were selected as investigation subjects, questionnaire being used on-the-spot.

ResultsIn the investigation, 5.17% of the institutions had defective management and post responsibility system; 12.07% had not signed agreements with the suppliers; 7.90% had not trained the CSSD(central sterile supply department) personnel, with training form and time being not uniformed and coherent.With training, pre-employment, in-service or both accounted for 33.33%, 9.26%, 57.41% respectively.Once a year, twice or more, on-demand or only pre-job training accounted for 42.59%, 35.19%, 11.11% respectively.As to the handover field, 8.62% did not arrange full-time transfer personnel; 6.90% failed to implement specific departments; 13.79% had not delivered the devices to CSSD before 15: 00 on the day before operation.Cleaning and disinfection were not standardized, as 5.26% did not clean and disinfect after using according to the regulations.

ConclusionThe management, cleaning and disinfection of the loaners and implants in Shanghai medical institutions did not fully meet the WS310-2016, some hidden dangers existent in this regard.It is necessary to strengthen the management, improve the system, standardize the operation and improve the quality.
