Multi-drug resistance and molecular typing of Salmonella enteritidis in Changning District of Shanghai in 2017

  • ObjectiveTo study the antibiotic resistance and molecular phenotypes of Salmonella enteritis by pulsed-filed gel electrophoresis(PFGE)in Changning District of Shanghai in 2017.
MethodsA total of 33 strains of Salmonella enteritidis were detected and identified by the isolation and serotyping from the infectious foodborne pathogens samples in Changning District of Shanghai in 2017.The PFGE molecular typing was conducted according to the National Pathogen Identification Network Technical Manual (2017) on the molecular typing.Micro-broth dilution method was used to determine antibiotic resistance.
ResultsAll strains of Salmonella enteritidis (n=33) were divided into 11 genotypes. The superiority types (n=30) concentrated on Clade1.There were 22 strains which were resistant to two or more kinds of antibiotics. Besides, 20 strains were resistent to 6 or more kinds of antibiotics. There existed two strains which were resistant to four generations of cephalosporin.
ConclusionMulti-drug resistance of Salmonella enteritidis proves common in Changning District. The PFGE type strains difference is small and the strains of the same PFGE type show similar patterns for multiple drug resistance.
