Epidemiological analysis on public health emergencies in Xishan District of Kunming City, 2004-2018

  • ObjectiveTo analyze the public health emergencies of Xishan District from 2004 to 2018, and to provide a basis for prevention and control measures.
    MethodsData from China Information System of Disease Prevention and Control were used to make a descriptive epidemiological analysis of the public health emergencies in Xishan District from 2004 to 2018.
    ResultsA total of 18 public health emergencies were reported in Xishan District from 2004 to 2018, including 559 cases, and the attack rate was 5.45%.The public health emergencies were mainly infectious diseases, accounting for 77.78%, followed by food poisoning events accounting for 11.11%.Of the 18 incidents, 15 occurred in schools, accounting for 83.33%.The main types of events were respiratory and enteric infectious diseases.The first three reported events were caused by rubella, HFMD and chickenpox.Most events occurred from April to May and December.
    ConclusionInfectious diseases are the main types of public health emergencies in Xishan District.Schools are the places with a high risk of public health emergencies of infectious diseases.Kindergartens and rural primary schools are the priorities of prevention and control.
