Prevalence survey of chronic disease's related factors in Gusu District of Suzhou City in 2018

  • ObjectiveIn order to ascertain the prevalence of chronic disease related factors and the management of chronic disease patients in Suzhou, to comprehensively evaluate the effect of education of chronic disease related prevention and control knowledge in the whole district, and to sort out the main problems to be solved in the next step of chronic disease prevention and control.
MethodsAccording to the simple random sampling method, 16 communities were selected as the survey places, within which buildings to be investigated were determined. From each of the buildings 5 families were selected. And from each family 1 or 2 members aged≥15 years with registered permanent residence in Gusu District were selected as survey subjects. A total of 8 020 residents were selected as subjects.
ResultsThe overweight and obesity rate of the investigated population was 42.8%, and the rates of men and women were 48.8% and 37.5%, respectively. The smoking rate was 15.6%, 32.5% for men and 0.9% for women. The drinking rate was 17.9%, 34.0% for men and 4.1% for women, which was higher for men than for women. The prevalence of hypertension, hyperlipidemia and diabetes were 30.3%, 9.2% and 5.4%, respectively. The rate of normal high value was higher than that of five years ago, and the rate of normal blood pressure was lower than that of five years ago.
ConclusionThe decrease of behavioral risk factors related to chronic diseases indicates that the propaganda and education of various activities have played a positive role in the past five years in Gusu District. Although the prevalence of chronic diseases in Gusu District is generally on the decline, the increase of the proportion of people in the early stage of hypertension indicates that the key work of the next step in the prevention and control of hypertension should be how to reduce the rate of normal high blood pressure and potential hypertension in population of Gusu District.
