Relationship between hypertension control rate, biochemical indicators and complications in community of Shanghai

  • ObjectiveTo study the influencing factors of control rate of hypertension in community in Shanghai from the perspective of biochemical indicators and complications related to hypertension.
MethodsData from the 2013 Shanghai Non-communicable and Chronic Disease Surveillance was used for analyzing the influencing factors of control rate of hypertension.Multivariate logistic regression analysis was conducted and related biochemical indicators and complication risk factors were screened by stepwise method.
ResultsA total of 6 660 permanent residents were enrolled in this study.Their average age was 64.72±10.40 years. The average SBP and DBP was 145.40±18.44 mmHg and 85.87±10.19 mmHg respectively.Among them, 2 483 were under control and the total control rate of hypertension was 37.28%.The control rate among participants with normal blood glucose, normal blood lipid and normal homocysteine were 39.45%, 38.99%, 44.13% respectively, which were significantly higher than those with abnormal indicators (All P < 0.05).Hypertension control rate was related with blood glucose (OR=0.749, 95%CI:0.671-0.835), blood lipid (OR=0.904, 95%CI:0.815-1.003), creatinine (OR=0.724, 95%CI:0.484-1.085) and homocysteine (OR=0.724, 95%CI:0.625-0.838).
ConclusionMonitoring hypertension-related biomedical indicators and complications should be paid more attention in the management of hypertension in community. And then intervention at early stage can be taken to reduce the risk of complications related with hypertension. Finally, the hypertension control rate can increase and hypertension patients will obtain better therapeutic effect and prognosis.
