Pre-assessment of supportive capabilities for public health during EXPO 2010 in Luwan district Shanghai China

Objective To analyzes the public health risks in EXPO 2010 Shanghai China and prepare to face possible emergencies. Methods Risk management was introduced for decision making and planning. Results Through analysis, it showed that there existed public health risks, including infectious diseases, water related diseases, foodborne illness and heatstroke etc, and there was the capability gap between the preparation and responding. Conclusion These risk pre-assessment information can be used to predict and design strategies for EXPO 2010 and improve urgent management.
