Characteristics of death caused by cerebrovascular disease sequelae

  • Objective Toanalyze the ages at death, the places of death and concomitant disease resulting from cerebrovascular disease sequelae in Shanghai.Methods The causes of deaths were coded according to the international classification of disease version 10 (ICD-10)issued by the World Health Organization. And this analysis was performed using the Deathreg software.Results Cerebrovascular disease was the leading cause of death among residents in Shanghai, in which the death due to cerebrovascular sequelae contributed 42.68% to all deaths caused by the cerebrvascular disease. And 45.64% of deaths due to cerebrovascular disease sequelae occurred at home. Hypertension, lung infection disease, diabetes, bedsore infection were the main concomitant diseases of the cerebrovascular disease sequelae.Conclusion As the major disease with a serious impact on the health of Shanghai residents, cerebrovascular disease sequelae has an important position in the death disease spectrum.
