Analysis on the differences of blood lipids among type 2 diabetic patients on different diets

  • ObjectiveTo assess the effect of diet on the change of blood lipids in patients with type 2 diabetes. The blood lipids were analyzed from diabetics under different diets.MethodsIn Wuzhong Ningxia, the ordinary diet is based on beef and mutton, while in the offshore area of Beilun Ningbo, the daily diet is mainly composed of marine products. In this study,a total of 208 inpatients of type 2 diabetes were sampled and the blood lipid composition was compared between patients in Wuzhong Ningxia (group A) and those in Beilun Ningbo (group B).ResultsThe level of triglyceride (TG) in blood was significantly higher in group A than that in group B (P<0.01),while the level of high-density lipoprotein (HDL-C) was obviously lower in group A than that in group B (P<0.01).There was no significant difference in the levels of total cholesterol (TC) and low-density lipoprotein (LDL-C) between group A and group B.ConclusionIn comparison to diet mainly composed of beef and mutton, the diet chiefly based on marine products is better for the regulation of blood lipids in patients with type 2 diabetes.
