Discussion on construction of laboratory information management system for centre for disease prevention and control

Objective To explore the whole process of laboratory information management system(LIMS) in combination with the development and implementation of LIMS. Methods By analysis of development and implementation of LIMS in Baoshan District Center for Disease Prevent and Control, the whole process of LIMS construction was discussed on type selection, needs analysis, implementation and verification, system maintenance and improvement of LIMS. Results The type selection is the key; needs analysis is the cornerstone; and the implementation and verification is the core of successful construction of LIMS. Meanwhile the maintenance and improvement is a basic guarantee for its application. Conclusion The construction of LIMS is a systematic project. A well-designed LIMS can improve laboratory management.
