Glycemic control status and its influencing factors in type 2 diabetic outpatients

  • Objective To investigate the glycemic control status and its influencing factors in type 2 diabetic outpatients. Methods A total of 677 type 2 diabetic outpatients in a three-A level hospital in Shanghai were enrolled in this study. Their general conditions, physical examination and lab examination were surveyed. Results The mean HbAlc concentration of the 677 type 2 diabetic outpatients was 7.27%. And 46.23% of participants had a HbAlc ≥ 7.00%. The results of Logistic regression showed that diastolic blood pressure(DBP), body mass index(BMI) and triglycerides(TG) were influencing factors for achieving the optimum HbAlc goal. Conclusion The success rate of glycemic control was low in outpatients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. There are multifaceted determinants for achieving glycemic control. It is essential to further increase the awareness of these determinants.
