Tei index changes in children with Kawasaki disease before and after nursing treatment

  • ObjectiveTo observe the heart function of children with kawasaki disease (KD) before and after large-dose gamma globulin treatment and nursing intervention, and to evaluate the therapeutic nursing effect by using Tei index.
MethodsA total of 90 cases were diagnosed as KD, and all cases were treated with large doses of gamma globulin. According to whether to be given careful nursing intervention, they were divided into no careful nursing intervention group (group A, 45 cases) and careful nursing intervention group (group B, 45 cases). And another 45 cases of healthy children were as control group, with the change of heart function in KD observed before and after nursing treatment by using Tei index.
ResultsIn comparison of LVEF, E/A value between the 3 groups before treatment, the differences were not statistically significant (P >0.05); LV-Tei and RV-Tei in group A, B before treatment were longer than those in the control group (P < 0.05); In comparison of LVEF, E/A value in group A, B before and after treatment, the differences were not statistically significant (P >0.05); LV-Tei and RV-Tei in group A, B after treatment were shorter than those before treatment(P < 0.05); LV-Tei and RV-Tei after treatment in group B were shorter than those in group A, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05).
ConclusionLarge doses of gamma globulin treatment and careful nursing intervention in children with KD, can effectively improve the heart function of children with KD, and Tei index is sensitive to monitoring the changes of cardiac function in children with KD.
