ObjectiveTo investigate patient's beliefs and behavior about pain.
MethodsTwenty three patients with small cell lung cancer pain were surveyed by the semi-structured interview, and the data were analyzed by the Colaizzi phenomenological analysis.
ResultsThrough interviews three themes were identified:patients emotions were negative, patients failed to reflect the actual circumstances of the pain and patients were in lack of the pain relief measures.
ConclusionNurses should understand patients, help the patients out of the erroneous zone, and effectively pass pain knowledge to the patients, so as to change their behavior and relieve their pain.
