Epidemiological survey on Helicobacter pylori infection among Shanghai suburb residents

  • ObjectiveTo investigate Helicobacter pylori infection situation in Shanghai suburb residents through epidemiological survey.
    MethodsAged 40 or above 3 258 participants receiving physical examination were selected between Sep.2016 and Dec.2016.Serological analyzed blood samples by dot immunochromatographic assay and a questionnaire survey were conducted.
    ResultsThe infection rate in Shanghai suburb residents was 28.0%(95%CI:26.5%-29.5%).The male rate was 31.5%(95%CI:29.1%-33.9%) and the female rate 25.2%(95%CI:23.2%-27.2%), which had significant difference.The lowest infection rate was 24.1% (95%CI:20.9%-27.2%) in the age group of older than 70 years old with significant differences among various age.The infection rates of smokers and non-smokers were 35.4% (95%CI:32.2-38.7) and 25.3%(95%CI:23.6-27.1) respectively.The infection rates of drinkers and non-drinkers were 32.3%(95%CI:28.9-35.7) and 27.0%(95%CI:25.3-28.8) respectively.The differences were all significant above.
    ConclusionThe infection rate of H.pylori in Shanghai suburb residents is related with sex, age, smoke and alcohol.
