Effect of disinfection quality in nurseries and kindergartens from 2014 to 2016 in Jing′an District, Shanghai

  • ObjectiveTo investigate the status quo of disinfection quality in nursery and kindergarten of Jing′an District in Shanghai and to find out the deficiencies, so as to further improve the work quality and reduce the epidemic risk of infectious diseases.
    MethodsOn-site investigation and sampling examination were used during the monitoring.The disinfection effect in nursery and kindergarten from 2014-2016 in Jing′an District was comprehensively analyzed.
    ResultsThe eligible rates of disinfection quality during 2014-2016 in nursery and kindergarten of Jing′an District were 99.32%, 97.92%, 97.81%, respectively, and there was no statistically significant difference in the three consecutive years (χ2=4.777, P > 0.05).The qualified rates of disinfection quality of public and private kindergartens were 98.70% and 97.95% respectively, and the difference was not statistically significance (χ2=1.142, P>0.05).The qualified rate of indoor air, eating utensils, object surface, hands of staff, and disinfection solution in use were 100.00%, 100.00%, 98.86%, 95.62% and 96.97% respectively.The qualified rate of the hands of health teachers, nutritionists and nurses were 96.97%, 94.95% and 94.95%, respectively.The difference was not statistically significant (χ2=0.644, P > 0.05).
    ConclusionThe disinfection quality is satisfactory as a whole, but there is still weakness found in the object surface, hands of staff and disinfection solution in use.Therefore, strengthening management, updating equipment, improving skills, as well as training and operational exercises should be done so as to effectively guarantee the quality of disinfection and protect children′s health.
