Glycosylated hemoglobin A1c control and its influence factors in type 2 diabetes mellitus managed communites

  • ObjectiveTo investigate glycosylated hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c) control and preliminarily discuss its influence factors in type 2 diabetes mellitus managed by communities of Pudong New Area.
MethodsA total of 400 cases of type 2 diabetes stratified and randomly selected from 8 community health service centers in Pudong New Area were investigated.According to China′s Type 2 Diabetes Prevention and Control Guidelines′ control target HbA1c < 7.0%, the cases were divided into the compliance group and non-compliance group.Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to explore the influence factors affecting HbA1c compliance.
ResultsA total of 387 valid questionnaires were collected, and percentage of patients achieving target goals were 24.03% for HbA1c(< 7.0%).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that residence, disease course, diet, HbA1c monitoring and waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) were independent factors affecting HbA1c compliance.
ConclusionThe HbA1c compliance rate is lower in community management of type 2 diabetes in Pudong New Area, however, possible factors affecting HbA1c compliance in patients with type 2 diabetes include residence, disease course, diet, HbA1c monitoring and WHR.
