Blood lipid status among permanent residents in Zhongshan Community of Songjiang District, Shanghai

  • Objective To analyze the blood lipid status and impact factors among permanent residents in Zhongshan Community, Songjiang District, Shanghai.
Methods Cluster sampling was used to select 8 neighborhood committees and residents were recruited aged 18-74 years old for questionnaire survey and physical examination.Fasting serum lipid triglyceride (TG), serum total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) were measured to analyze the prevalence of dyslipidemia and its influencing factors.
Results A total of 6 938 participants were interviewed. The prevalence of dyslipidemia was 58.78%, while those of high TC, high TG, high LDL-C and low HDL-C were 39.6%, 39.0%, 20.6% and 14.6%, respectively. After adjustment for gender, age, body mass index and waist-to-hip ratio, multiple logistic regression analysis showed that overweight(OR=1.572, 95%CI:1.405-1.760), obesity (OR=1.963, 95%CI:1.658-2.324) and waist-to-hip ratio (OR=1.615, 95%CI:1.445-1.805) were significant independent risk factors of dyslipidemia.
Conclusion The prevalence of dyslipidemia among Zhongshan community residents is high.It is necessary to further strengthen the screening and health education of dyslipidemia among the high-risk population.
