Objective In order to ascertain the situation of renal impairment among permanent residents in Shanghai and analyze the related risk factors, providing the reference to the prevention and treatment of renal impairment.
Methods A randomized cluster sampling method was used to recruit the residents aged 20-74 in Sheshan Town, Songjiang District.Questionnaire interview, physical examination and laboratory test were conducted, and the influencing factors of renal injury analyzed.
Results A total of 6 831 residents were surveyed in Shanghai. The prevalence of chronic renal impairment was 19.51%. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that male (OR=4.36, 95%CI:3.45-5.50), older population (OR=2.85, 95%CI:2.14-3.79), history of tobacco use (OR=1.28, 95%CI:0.96-1.71) and central obesity (OR=1.42, 95%CI:1.19-1.69) were the independent risk factors of renal impairment.
Conclusion The prevalence of renal impairment is relatively high among Shanghai permanent residents, so we should further strengthen the prevention and treatment of renal impairment in the population, focusing on high-risk groups in particular.
