A brief overview is presented of the discovery and development of methoprene.The mechanism of juvenile hormone as biological insecticide is described in insect growth stage.The application of methoprene in mosquito control is expounded from the perspective of public health, and the biosafety of it elucidated from the perspective of environmental impact.Further, the application prospect of the methoprene is projected.
