ObjectiveJing′an and Songjiang Districts were selected as the survey areas for the study of satisfaction with food safety among residents in Shanghai.Based on results from these two districts, we could not only identify the effectiveness and problems with food safety work in these two districts, but also put forward suggestions for improvement of Shanghai food safety.
MethodsAccording to the Guide to Investigation of Food Safety Satisfaction, We investigated these aspects: food safety satisfaction, cognition and support rate of food safety establishment, cognition rate of food safety knowledge and behavior formation rate.
ResultsBoth Jing′an and Songjiang Districts were at a relatively high level, in reaching the requirements of the nation for food safety.Songjiang was a little higher than Jingan in this regard.The results of Songjiang and Jing′an:food satisfaction(83.1, 80), cognition rate of food safety establishment (87.2%, 85.1%), support rate of food safety establishment(99.8%, 99.2%), cognition rate of food safety knowledge (87.2%, 85.6%), behavior formation rate(77.8%, 74.5%).In particular, there were still problems in the market/ the early or night market, the "three small" stores, the food additives, and others as counterfeit and shoddy products, online ordering of restaurants, and other problems.
ConclusionFood safety works of the two districts are at a high level in reaching the national requirements, and Songjiang District is slightly better than Jingan District.It is necessary to improve the food safety work continuously.
