Experimental observation on resistance to bromadiolone with Rattus tanezumi

  • ObjectiveTo study the resistance of Rattus tanezumi to bromadiolone in Xuhui and provide laboratory evidence for the control of Rattus tanezumi.
MethodsThe in-taking toxicity was tested by unselective method in Rattus tanezumi; first, they were fed with no drug bait for 2 days, then 0.005% Bromadiolone bait for 9 days, and finally no drug bait for 16 days, so as to observe indexes as the number of days of lethal drug consumption (LFP).
ResultsThere was no significant difference found between male and female Rattus tanezumi in their susceptibility to bromadiolone. The LFP50, LFP98, LFP99 and their 95% confidence interval was 6.08 (5.71-6.48) days, 14.20 (12.21-17.63) days, 15.89 (13.44-20.23) days respectively.
ConclusionThe incidence of resistance to bromadiolone with Rattus tanezumi in Xuhui District was 16.67%, higher than the average level in Shanghai. In order to control rat density, PCO staff should use drug rotation or other methods of prevention and control, and extensively carry out patriotic sanitation campaign.
