Prevalence and related factor analysis on hyperuricemia in elderly in Jinshan District, Shanghai

ObjectiveTo investigate the prevalence and related factors of hyperuricemia(HUA) in the elderly people in Jinshan Shihua District of Shanghai.

MethodsA total of 3 366 participants took part in 2017 free physical examination for the elderly people in Jinshan Shihua District and were divided into two groups:non-hyperuricemia and hyperuricemia.Their body mass index, waistline, blood pressure, blood glucose and blood lipid were measured and analyzed respectively for their relationship with HUA.

ResultsThe overall prevalence of hyperuricemia was 22.0%.The prevalence in male was (351.31±82.56)μmol/L, higher than that in female(299.55±78.26)μmol/L (P < 0.05).Total cholesterol, triglyceride, low-density lipoprotein, in HUA group were all found to be higher than those in non-HUA group (P < 0.05);high density lipoprotein and glomerular filtration rate were lower than those in non-HUA group (P < 0.01).Multi-factor logistic analysis showed that male, obesity, abdominal obesity, systolic pressure, and high-low density lipoprotein were related factors of HUA.The proportion of the 3 items in HUA group and the above related factors was all higher than those in non-HUA group(P < 0.01).

ConclusionHUA prevalence is higher in the elderly people in Jinshan Shihua District, early comprehensive measures should be taken.
