Effect analysis on Balint group intervention in job burnout among community medical staff

  • Objective To explore the situation of psychological problems among medical staff in community hospitals and improve the relationship between doctors and patients.
    Methods From two community hospitals 20 general practitioners each and 10 nurses each were selected. By means of job burnout questionnaire (MBI), screening for depression scale (SDS), self-evaluation of anxiety scale (SAS), coping styles questionnaire (CSQ) scale, for a period of 2 years in the experimental group communities Balint group work was carried out, and control group did not participate in community intervention.The two groups were measured and scored before and after the intervention.
    Results The overall average score of job burnout after community intervention in the experimental group was lower than the baseline, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.01).The total scores of anxiety and depression after intervention were all lower than the baseline(P < 0.01).
    Conclusion Community hospitals can introduce Barrett group activities to alleviate the job burnout of community medical workers, update professional skills of medical workers and improve doctor-patient relationship.
