Comprehensive geriatric assessment and its application in the healthcare system for the elderly

This article introduced the core technology of geriatrics:Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA) and its use in the healthcare system for the elderly, including the concept of CGA, its development, major contents, intended population, evaluation tools, working manner, the medical and nonmedical aims.The application of CGA in the geriatric hospitals, nursing homes, the communities and homes was discussed.In order to provide better medical service for the older patients, further suggestions for combination of CGA with Chinese healthcare system and improvement of Chinese healthcare system for the elderly are proposed.
