Pregnant women's HBV infection and newborns' vaccination of hepatitis B vaccine and BCG vaccine in Baoshan, Shanghai in 2014-2017

  • ObjectiveTo analyze the maternal positive rate of HBsAg and the neonatal immunization in Baoshan District of Shanghai, in order to provide evidence of formulating strategies for prevention and treatment of hepatitis B and childhood tuberculosis.
    MethodsSubjects in all obstetric institutions of Baoshan District from 2014 to 2017 were collected. Both the pregnant women′s HBV infection and newborns′ vaccination rates of hepatitis B vaccine and BCG vaccine were analyzed.
    ResultsThe positive rate of HBsAg was 4.91% in 38 842 pregnant women.There was significant difference in the detection rate and positive rate of HBsAg between registered and non-registered pregnant women (P < 0.01).The vaccination rates of hepatitis B in newborns were 94.83%.The combined immunization rate in newborns of HBsAg-positive pregnant women was 93.65%;The vaccination rates of BCG vaccine in newborns were 87.53%;The main causes of untimely vaccination were low body weight and non-communicable diseases.
    ConclusionThe positive rate of HBsAg among pregnant women in Baoshan District of Shanghai is lower than that of the national level.But the detection rate of HBsAg pregnant women and the vaccination rates of BCG vaccine in newborns need to be improved.Obstetrical institutions should carry out timely vaccination for newborns and know well contraindication correctly.In addition, obstetric institutions should establish joint education and guarantee mechanism with community healthcare service, maternity and child healthcare hospital and other relevant departments.
