Application of sanitary insecticides and drug resistance of Aedes albopictus L. and Musca domestica L. in Qingpu District of Shanghai

  • ObjectiveTo investigate the application situation of public health insecticides and drug resistance of Aedes albopictus L. (A.albopictus) and Musca domestica L.(M.domestica), providing scientific basis for prevention and control of insecticide resistance in Qingpu District.
MethodsThe health departments and the biological control companies were investigated about the use of sanitary insecticides. The dipping method and the topical application method were used to measure the drug resistance of A.albopictus and M.domestica.
ResultsThe main insecticides used for mosquito and fly adult control in Qingpu District mainly included pyrethroid and organophosphorus. Those used to control cockroach were carbamate, organophosphorus and others. The insecticides controlling mosquito and fly larvae mainly included organophosphorus.A.albopictus held medium resistance to deltamethrin and temephos, low resistance to permethrin, sensitive to propoxur.M.domestica developed very high resistance to β-cypermethrin, deltamethrin and propoxur, low resistance to dichlorvos and Pyrimidine phosphorus.
ConclusionA.albopictus L. and M.domestica L. have developed resistance to different insecticides in Qingpu District.Insecticides should be used scientifically and appropriately to postpone the development of insecticide resistance.
