Survey results on gynaecological malignant tumors in Pudong New Area of Shanghai from 2004 to 2009

Objective To ascertain the prevalence of gynaecological malignant tumors among married women in Pudong New Area of Shanghai by general survey and provide health administrative departments with scientific evidence for making control and prevention decisions.Methods Based on gynaecological survey in Pudong New Area from 2004 to 2009, cases of gynaecological malignant tumor then had been collected and analyzed, the prevalence of the tumor being calculated.Results Breast cancer, cervical carcinoma and oophoroma were found to be the main malignant tumors among married women in Pudong New Area.Breast cancer was ranked first in prevalence rate with 29.83 per 100 thousand annually. Cervical carcinoma ranked second with 9.57 per 100 thousand annually. Oophoroma ranked third with 2.23 per 100 thousand every year.Conclusion Health education and health promotion should be enhanced for married women, to reduce the incidence and death rate of gynecological malignant tumors and improve the health of married women in Pudong New Area.
