Analysis on the situation of air pollution of PM₁₀ and PM_2.5 in Baoshan district,Shanghai

Objective To investigate the pollution levels of air particulate matter in Baoshan district in ordor to provide the reference for establishment of standard for PM_2.5 and pollution prevention.Methods Air particulate matter(PM₁₀ and PM_2.5) monitoring points were set in Research Institute of Iron and Steel Company as polluted area and Luojing as control area in 2007. Air particulate was examined by membrane weighing method.Results The concentration of PM₁₀ and PM_2.5 were 0. 102mg/m³ and 0. 054 mg/m³ respectively. The concentration of PM₁₀ and PM_2.5 in winter and spring were higher than that in other seasons. The weight of PM_2.5 accounts for approximately 55% weight of the PM₁₀.Conclusion Particulate matter pollution is a serious problem and obviously showed seasonal variation and regional differences in Baoshan district,Shanghai. Since PM_2.5 accounted for more than half of the proportion of PM₁₀ so that fine particulate matter pollution and its health hazards should be concerned.
