Genetic polymorphisms of ADH2,ALDH2 and alcohol drinking investigated for their connection with stomach cancer

Objective To exoplore the relationship of genetic polymorphisms of ADH2, ALDH2 and alcohol drinking with stomach cancer. Methods A total of 201 cases of stomach cancer and controls were included in the study blood samples were tested for ADH2, ALDH2 genotypes by PCR-DHPLC method. Results Compared to those with ADH2 A/A or ALDH2 G/G genotype, the individuals with other genotypes were not at a higher risk of developing stomach cancer.Drinkers with any genotype, and even with their cumulative amount of alcohol consumption ≥ 1.5 (kg/year), were not at a significantly higher risk of developing stomach cancer. Conclusion Genetic Polymorphisms Of ADH2, ALDH2 are not related to the development of stomach cancer.
