Effect evaluation on nutritional intervention on type 2 diabetics in community of Xuhui District, Shanghai

  • Objective To evaluate the effects of nutritional intervention on patients with type 2 diabetes in community. Methods A total of 313 patients with type 2 diabetes in Xuhui District of Shanghai were randomly divided into the intervention group (n=156) and the control group (n=157). The intervention group received six months' nutrition intervention which included nutrition education, nutrition evaluation by professional software, dietary guide and standardized follow-up. The changes of cognitive knowledge of disease, blood sugar and fat inspection results were compared between the two groups. Results Compared with the control, fasting venous blood sugar,2hr postprandial blood sugar and total cholesterol were improved as well as the cognitive knowledge after the intervention. Conclusion The nutrition intervention plays a positive role in raising awareness, controlling the blood sugar level and preventing or reducing the occurrence of complications of diabetes.
