Meta-analysis on psychological investigation outcome for Chinese university students from 2001 to 2005

Objective To compare the difference in factors of SCL-90 in relation to nation-wide youth groups and provide reference for promotion of psychological health of the Chinese university students.Methods Collect and screen 10 SCL-90 research results about university students in different residing areas in the past five years, make comparisons with the norm and analyse years effect and report quality effect.Results Valued of average effect amount compared between national norm and 10 research in SCL-90 of university students of different areas was 0.31.In comparisons with youth group of the whole country in 1986,there were significance differences between body,anxiety,bigotedness and psychosis.University student's psychological health showed somatization,bigoted factor had prominent gender differences.SCL-90 factor score were negatively correlated with issuing years.Conclusion Compared with youth group in 1986,there were significant differences between the groups in body,anxiety,bigotedness,and psychosis.Particular emphasis should be laid on the fact that university student's psychological health shows somatization and bigoted factor has prominent gender differences,so attention should be paid to gender differences while carrying on the psychological health education.SCL-90 factor score has year effects, and reduces with issuing years,indicating the tendency for the students to change for the better in their psychological health.
