Assessment for effect of family support on drug compliance in community young and middle-aged hypertensive patients

  • Objective To evaluate the effects of family support on drug compliance in community young and middle-aged hypertensive patients.Methods The young and middle-aged hypertensive patients selected from a community of Shanghai were divided randomly into intervention group and control group.Patients in intervention group received the family support management,while patients in control group were given conventional community treatment and management.After one year of intervention,differences in health behavior and blood pressure control were compared between the two groups before and after intervention.Results After one year of intervention, the home blood pressure measurement rate in intervention group increased from 62% to 83%,the drug compliance increased from 82% to 96%,the rate up to the standard blood pressure increased from 20% to 35%.And the difference was statistically significant.However,the control group changed only a little, with no significant difference.Conclusion The family support can improve drug compliance and blood pressure control in the community young and middle-aged hypertensive patients.
