ObjectiveTo investigate the epidemiological characteristics and clinical features of EV 71 infected hand foot and mouth disease (HFMD) .MethodsEpidemiological data, clinical information and results of laboratory test of 91 cases of Enterovirus type 71 infected HFMD were collected for analysis.ResultsThe patients admitted to hospital in May, June and July accounted for 53.85%, 38.46%, 7.69% of the total number respectively.The age range of these patients was from 30 days to 15 years, patients below 3 years accounted for 69.23% of the total number of patients.Fever as the initial symptom accounted for 93.41% of the total number of patients.All patients had herpes in palm or plantar.Patients had herpes in palms, plantar and oral mucosal at the same time accounted for 70.33% of the total number of patients.Patients with abnormal results of the test for myocardial enzymes and ECG accounted for 51.65% and 82.42% of the total number respectively.ConclusionThe epidemic peak season of HFMD in Shanghai is from may to july.The main victims are chilren under the age of three.Its chief manifestations are fever, rash in hand, foot and mouth.EV 71 leads to myocardial damage easily.
