Two detection methods applied and compared in the screening of Salmonella

  • Objective To compare the positivity rate between the routine method and the new method in Salmonella screen. Methods To evaluate the sensitivity obtained by using SF broth and WS and that by using SBG broth and CAS from fecal swab specimens of employees. Results By examination of 6676 specimens, the positivity rate of SF broth and WS was O. 24%, while that of the SBG broth and CAS was 1.03%.Conclusion The positivity rate of SBG broth and CAS was much higher than that of SF broth and WS. The colony morphology of Salmonella is easier to recognize in CAS. And the method of SBG broth and CAS is easier to apply.
