Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To investigate the current status of post competency among full-time and part-time nosocomial infection prevention and control personnel in Shanghai, in order to provide a scientific basis for future training of these professionals.
METHODS Convenience sampling was used. In December 2024, the Shanghai Nosocomial Infection Quality Control Center conducted a questionnaire survey among full-time and part-time nosocomial infection prevention and control personnel across various levels and types of medical institutions in Shanghai. The survey questionnaire consisted of two parts: demographic information and post competency assessment. The post competency scale of nosocomial infection prevention and control encompassed four dimensions: basic knowledge, fundamental skills, professional expertise, and personal qualities, totaling 35 questions.
RESULTS Totally 1144 valid questionnaires were collected. The distribution of professional backgrounds, educational qualifications, professional titles, and the levels of medical institutions among full-time and part-time nosocomial infection prevention and control personnel shows statistically significant differences (
χ2=9.901,
P=0.019;
χ2=19.096,
P<0.001;
χ2=12.599,
P=0.002;
χ2=111.077,
P<0.001). The scores of full-time nosocomial infection prevention and control personnel in basic knowledge 92 points (82,99) and fundamental skills 88 points (78,96) were significantly higher than those of part-time nosocomial infection control personnel(
Z=-2.208,
P=0.027;
Z= -2.743,
P=0.006).
CONCLUSION There were differences in basic knowledge and fundamental skills between fulltime and part-time nosocomial infection prevention and control personnel in Shanghai. In the future, targeted measures should be strengthened to enhance the various competencies of both full-time and part-time nosocomial infection control personnel in their respective positions.
