Abstract:
Objective To ascertain hypertension prevalence and related knowledge awareness among residents in Wenzhou City.
Methods A total of 4 001 residents over 35 years from three communities in Wenzhou City were investigated via questionnaire survey, physical examination and lab tests by multistage randomized sampling.
Results The hypertension prevalence rate among residents over 35 years was 41.76%, and the awareness, treatment, and control rate among them were 54.94%, 83.44%, 10.53%, respectively.The main risk factors for hypertension were found to be male sex, age, overweight/obesity, diabetes, lower education and so on by using Logistic regression analysis.The awareness of hypertension hazard and its risk factors was low.
Conclusion There is high prevalence and low awareness of hypertension in Wenzhou City residents.It is necessary and important to carry out comprehensive intervention for hypertension control and prevention in community,including hypertension health education and its promotion activities.
