Abstract:
ObjectiveTo analyze the influencing factors for the control rate of self-reported hypertension patients aged 18 and older in Shanghai.
MethodsThe data on Shanghai Non-communicable and Chronic Disease (NCD) Surveillance in Shanghai in 2013 were used to analyze the influencing factors and control rate of self-reported hypertension in Shanghai.
ResultsA total of 6 768 self-reported hypertensions were analyzed. Those at the age of 60 years and above accounted for 67.46%, with 40.93% of them being male. The control rate of treatment was 37.69% (95%CI).It was found that the impact factors associated with blood pressure control included socioeconomic factors such as male sex, older age, less educated, agricultural professionals and rural population, and diseases factors as overweight/obese, excess waist circumference, family history of hypertension, diabetes, lifestyle as high drinking frequency, insufficient vegetable intake, and low frequency of blood pressure monitoring.
ConclusionThe control rate of treatment for hypertension patients in Shanghai is low.In the disease management, we should subdivide the needs of the object, strengthen the intervention of life style, and promote the self-monitoring of blood pressure.
