Abstract:
ObjectiveTo evaluate the safety of poliomyelitis-contained vaccines used in Qingpu District of Shanghai.
MethodsWe collected the reported adverse events following immunization(AEFI) cases related to vaccinations of OPV(oral polio vaccine), IPV(inactive polio vaccine), DTaP-IPV-Hib in Qingpu District from 2015 to 2018 via AEFI information management system; then the data were analyzed by epidemiology method.
ResultsDuring the 4-year period, the incidence rates of AEFI related to vaccinations of OPV, IPV, DTaP-IPV-Hib were 12.60 per 100 000, 186.00 per 100 000, 738.69 per 100 000 doses.Of all the AEFI reported, 98.26% were common reactions and 1.30% rare ones (anaphylactic rash). Most of the reported AEFI cases were small children less than one year old, male cases of AEFI being more than female ones. And 69.57% of the reported cases occurred within one day following vaccination. The reported number of AEFI of first dose/time was more than that of follow-up dose/time.
ConclusionThe vaccination of poliomyelitis-contained vaccines is safe enough but the surveillance on AEFI of the vaccination remains to be strengthened so far.
