Abstract: Objective To evaluate the implementation effect of the fifth-round Global Fund TB control project for floating population in Pudong and provide a basis for tuberculosis prevention and control.Methods Collected were quarterly reports, annual reports of the Global Fund TB control project from Dec.2007 to Sep. 2009, and analysis on the detection and treatment of tuberculosis in floating population in Pudong.Results Special funds of 1.855 million yuan were invested in this project since its implementation 2 years before. In these 2 years,1288 cases of active tuberculosis and 434 new sputum smear-positive TB patients were discovered and registered. After the implementation of the project, the registration rate in floating population rose from 51.58 per 10 million to 51.58 per 10 million, the DOTs management rate rose from 57.8% to 94.8% and the cure/the Completion rate in tuberculosis patients in treatment for one year increased from 48.8% to 85.0%.Conclusion The fifth-round Global Fund TB control project significantly contributed to the implementation of TB control program in Pudong New Area, and provided useful experience for other projects to draw upon.
