Abstract: Objective To investigate plasma level of omentin in chronic hemodialysis patients and its correlation with BMI,serum creatinine,fasting glucose,blood lipid and Homa-IR. Methods The study included 80 health people as control group and 62 chronic hemodialysis patients. A double antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immuno sorbent assay (ELISA) method was applied to detect the level of serum omentin and homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistant(Homa-IR) to assess the insulin resistance index,analysis being done on correlation between serum omentin and other indexes. Results The levels of plasma omentin was significantly higher in hemodialysis patients than those in control group(P<0.01).ESRD(end-stage renal disease) patients with diabetes had lower level of plasma omentin than those without diabetes. The serum level of omentin had negative correlation with BMI and Homa-IR, and positive correlation with HDL-C, serum creatinine. Conclusion The serum level of omentin proves to be elevated in ESRD patients receiving hemodialysis;and those with diabetes had lower levels of plasma omentin than those without.
